Barn, now house. c.1540 (carbon dating). Cruck framed, and
brick with stone dressings, slate roof. One storey with
attic, cruciform plan. Northern wing has quoins and
ventilation holes, inserted attic window. To left C20 open
fronted garage with lean-to roof on 2 cast iron quatrefoil
columns; entrance within. To right a round-headed entrance,
now window, with stone surround; similar C20 window to right
return of north wing. Right return has barn entrance, now
window, with stone quoins and timber lintel. Rear has
inserted window; south wing has C20 entrance and pitching eye
(blocked). Central brick stack. Interior has 2 open cruck
trusses and several collar and strut trusses. Used in C17 and
C18 as Catholic chapel, q.v. barn to Grange Farm, Grange
Road.
