Farmhouse. Late C17 and early C18. Roughcast over stone,
graduated slate roof. T-shaped plan having cross wing on left.
2 storeys and attic; 1:3 windows to 1st floor. Cross wing has
chamfered mullioned windows with hoodmoulds; 4-light window to
ground floor, 3-light above and 2-light to attic. Oversailing
verge, rebuilt stack rises from left eaves. Main range to
right appears later and has door to right of centre and raised
surrounds to C20 wooden-mullioned casements of 1-, 3- and
2-lights beneath continuous dripcourse. 1st floor: projecting
stone sills to 3 casement windows; band beneath 6 gutter
blocks. Corbelled end stack on right has offsets and tapered
shaft. Rear: large external stack to cross wing. Left return
of cross wing also has a 4-light and a 3-light window as
front. INTERIOR: entrance room with slate floor and beamed
ceiling. Ground floor of crosswing has cavetto-moulded ashlar
fireplace with bread oven in the recess; oak dado panelling of
various designs. On 1st-floor landing are 2 early C18 doors of
6 and 8 panels with planted mouldings. Collared
principal-rafter trusses; that to crosswing with cambered tie
beam.
