House, later shop and flat, now house, with attached railings.
Late C18 house with mid C19 shop. Painted incised stucco with
painted ashlar dressings; roof of concrete tiles with rubble
and brick chimneys. 3 storeys; 3-window range. Roughly
segmental head to wide arch at right to Broad Gates. Step up
to half-glazed door recessed at left of central bay in painted
stone surround. At left of door, bay window with quadrant
returns has plain sash, and 4-pane sashes in returns, slender
pilasters, and shallow entablature. At right of door, narrow
square bay shop window has 4-pane front sash, with narrow
Ionic pilaster at inner and chamfered pilaster at outer angles
and entablature with prominent dentilled cornice. Plain sashes
on upper floors have painted flat stone lintels, second-floor
windows recessed and abutting eaves, and flat stone sills.
Roof has right gable coping on moulded kneeler; end chimneys,
at left truncated and of rubble, at right of yellow brick.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Wrought-iron railings in front of left bay curve in to door
and have simple spike heads, with left end stay and bombe
principal.
