House. c1884. By George Smith of Chester. Brick with some mock
timbering and plain tiled roof. Elizabethan style. 2-storeyed,
3 principal bays with central entrance, and recessed service
wing to right. Central gabled bay of 3 storeys advanced with
panelled and part-glazed 4-centred arched door in porch with
timberwork carried on brick piers. 5-light mullioned and
transomed window spans the gable above. 4-light mullioned
window projecting on corbels in gable apex. Right-hand bay has
triple round-arched moulded brick mullions to ground floor and
timbered upper storey with casement window. Recessed range
beyond has metal framed casement inserted to ground floor, and
4-light round arched moulded brick mullioned window above.
Diaper work band below eaves. Crow stepped side gable.
Left-hand bay has triple ogee arched moulded brick mullioned
window with stained glass margin lights to ground floor, and
4-light mullioned window above. Return elevation a crow
stepped gable with 2-light moulded brick ogee mullioned window
to ground floor, 3-light windows above, but not aligning.
Moulded brick sill bands to each floor. Recessed beyond, large
single storey music room. Moulded brick axial stacks.
