Two shops. c1860. Stucco and painted brick with ashlar
dressings; parapeted roof with brick stacks. Italianate style.
4 storeys; 6-window range. C20 shop fronts. 6-window range has
Greek key frieze and cornice over 1st floor; 2nd-floor sill
course; top guilloche frieze and modillioned cornice; quoins.
Windows to 1st floor have architraves, friezes and consoled
cornices with scrolled cresting to 6-pane sashes, glazing bars
to lower sashes removed to first three bays to left; 2nd floor
has windows with eared architraves, friezes and cornices over
12-pane sashes; 3rd floor has windows with eared architraves
and 6-pane sashes. End stack with cornice. 2-window corner
range with 2-window return and 3-window range to Queen Square.
Corner range has apron frieze and sill course to 2nd floor and
altered parapet; 1st floor has round-headed windows with
spandrels, friezes and cornices, sash; 2nd floor has
architraved windows with panelled aprons, friezes and consoled
pediments, 4-pane sash; 3rd floor has windows with eared and
shouldered architraves and keystones, 4-pane sash. 3-window
range has sill bands and faceted quoins to 2nd and 3rd floors;
altered parapet; 1st floor has altered windows with C20
casements; 2nd floor has windows with eared architraves and
strap work cresting over horned sashes; similar 2nd floor
windows but with scrolled cresting. INTERIOR not inspected.
