1741. Built on the site of a post-mill, this is an example of an early tower mill,
a comparatively rare structure within a county rich in water mills. Of 5 storeys,
the main structure is a circular tapering brick tower. The interior contains a full
set of timber machinery virtually unaltered and of national importance the external
features (cap, sails, chain gear and timber gallery) having gone since the
termination of use in 1907. Restoration scheme in progress 1979. Starred for its
early date, and rare machinery.
