GV II
Row of cottages of 2 builds, formerly a workhouse. Late C18 or
early C19. Nos 1 & 2 built slightly earlier than 2,3 & 4
because the attic window just clears the roof of Nos 1 & 2.
Nos 1 & 2 are timberframed clad on the ground floor in red
brick in Flemish bond with grey headers. 1st floor
weatherboarded. Gambrel old tiled roof with exterior brick
stack. Catslide roof to rear of slate. 2 storeys 3 windows.
C19 casements. 2 doorcases with 4 curved panels and flat hoods
with brackets. Nos 3 & 4 are of higher elevation. Ground floor
red brick with grey headers, 1st floor weatherboarded. Gambrel
old tiled roof with end stacks (1 external). 2 storeys 2
windows. C20 casements. Ground floor has diagonally placed
bricks to voussoirs. Doorcases have 4 round headed panels and
doors and late gabled weatherhoods. Side elevation has
attached C19 pair of privies under gabled roof. Casement
windows to rear right hand one having bottom opening.
Interiors contain open fireplaces.
