Description

LISKEARD

SX26SW LAMELLION
979-1/3/122 Barn, cart shed and stables
north-west of Lamellion Farmhouse

GV II

Barn, cart shed and stables. Early C19, extended later C19.
Slatestone rubble walls; rag slate roof (partly fallen) to
barn, otherwise dry Delabole slate. Rectangular barn extended
with stables on its right and in front of this a stable and
cartshed extension plus a parallel cart or waggon shed
extension at rear and stables at right-angles to rear left of
this. 2-storey barn has one 2-light shuttered window visible
on right; 1st-floor wooden-lintelled loading doorway
approached by straight flight of stone steps in front, towards
right flanked by 2 doorways which like window have flat
arches; stable-type boarded doors. Left-hand return has
original 8-pane top lights over later large panes to windows
and original planked doors. INTERIOR not inspected but likely
to be fairly complete. The farm buildings are an important
contribution to the setting of Lamellion Farmhouse (qv).
