Town house with later shop. Early/mid C18. Granite ashlar
courses alternating with rubble courses; continuous
ground-floor wooden lintel; steep rag slate roof with 3 gabled
roof dormers with C20 six-pane 2-light casements; angled eaves
cornice. Double-depth plan. 2-storeys plus attic over basement
on right; 5-window range. C18 possibly original sashes with
thick glazing bars; central pedimented doorway with pilasters
and consoles; panelled reveals and 6-panel door; traceried
overlight with central oval. Late C20 double shop front on the
left. Stone rubble rear has late C18 two-storey canted bay on
left with 3 x 16-pane hornless sashes to each bay, slate-hung
aprons and coved eaves cornice which returns towards No.4 (qv)
with stucco on studwork wall with slate-hung gable. INTERIOR
not accessible at time of survey but noted as having good
quality early C18 open-well staircase with turned balusters
and ramped handrail with scrolled newel.
