Engine houses built 1832 and modernised c.1932 when diesel
engines introduced. Beam engine possibly removed at this time.
Local red brick, slate roofs. Three parts to buildings; central
three storey engine house with five symmetrical hung sash
windows in gauged brick arches on each floor. Central panelled
door. Wheel house to right hand has side entrance and one large
metal window with fanned glazing bars in round-headed arch.
Single storey stoke house on left hand, with tall square
chimney.
