1/19 Lower Adler Root
Farmhouse
9/8/1966
II
Farmhouse, externally probably early C17, extended and much altered. Pebbledashed
all over, with grey slate roof. The right (east) side appears to be the oldest
part, of 2 storeys, and 3 windows with gable to road; replaced timber windows
in orpenings which were probably formerly mullioned. Interior: Contains the
principal features of interest. The front parlour, right, has a 16-panelled
ceiling with deeply moulded main cross-beams and moulded secondary cross-beams,
of late C15 type. The kitchen (right rear room) has an old oak doorframe and
an oak beam on oak corbel set in chimney-breast. The bedroom above the kitchen
has a similar beam and corbel, better preserved and better formed.
