The present building dates from the early C19 and later, incorporating some
older fabric. Front 2 storeys, west wing rendered. Pantile roofs. Three-three-three
windows, the centre unit a taller mid C19 remodelling. Left hand unit has
attic, 2 dormers, plain band over first floor and modern casement windows;
central wrought iron porch with tented hood, pier to left with moulded capping.
The right hand part (east) has 2+1 windows, sashes, and open pediment doorway
to left with traceried fanlight. Porch extension built on to right with a
re-used niche. Three C18 cross mullion (wood) casements to rear. Centre part
projects to rear. To west is an incomplete coach house incorporating 2 Tudor
archways said to come from Bristol Castle and 3 perpendicular style windows.
The archways appear to be C17, ashlar with traceried spandrels, moulded jambs
and hood-moulds, south arch with C19 arms and motto over and 2-light mullion
window. North arch approached by low quadrant walls with octagonal piers.
Walled garden to south with 3 tall rubble walls, about 14 ft high with coping
and low closing wall to south. This building is said to be on the site of
a Saxon hunting lodge.
