House. C17 with mid C18 alterations. 2 builds. Coursed squared sandstone,
of thinner courses in first build, with ashlar dressings, quoins and plinth;
small brick addition at left of projecting later build. Stone gutter cornice,
with additional C20 gutter added; concrete-tiled roof with overlapping stone
gable copings and brick chimneys. Older part set back at left 2 low storeys,
2 windows; main house, symmetrical 2 storeys, 5 windows, has 6-panel door with
2-pane overlight in pedimented stone surround with Tuscan pilasters and frieze
with triglyph and guttae over each pilaster. Plain sashes in architraves.
Chamfered quoins. Left part has renewed windows in stone surrounds, and ground-
floor sill band partly renewed. 3 corniced ridge chimneys. Interior: 5-panel
door, originally external door of first house, has lift-latch escutcheon;
communicating door has flat Tudor-arched stone head. Cut-string rectangular
open-well stair at rear centre of main house has moulded wreathed ramped
handrail on slender turned balusters; block tread ends; wide-swept lower steps
with curtail. Pilasters and scroll-keyed arch frame rear of central passage;
similar surround and cornice to cupboard in ground-floor room.
