C17 timber-framed and plastered building much altered in the C18-C19 and
later. The north part (Retreat) is faced in white brick and is gabled.
Two storeys. Retreat has 2 window range and Waterloo House has 4 window
range of double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The ground storey has a
modern shop front. Roofs slate. A wing extends to the east at the rear,
with a tiled roof. (RCHM 22).
