House, formerly 2 dwellings, now with ground floor shops. C17
or earlier, refronted mid C18, with C19 and C20 alterations.
Timber-framed, C18 brick front, now whitewashed. Old tiled
roof behind parapet, with former 3 box dormers noted in 1974
description now removed.
2 storeys and attics, first floor plat band, brick dentil and
moulded cornice. 5 flush set sash windows, 2 to the left hand
side with divided glazing, 3 to the right hand side with
glazing bars, and 1 blank recess at extreme right. Ground
floor has, at left, alleyway leading to Leaside. 2 modern
shopfronts. That on the left (No.48) appears to contain
vestiges of a C19 shopfront, including moulded window frames,
and a carved console bracket below, and partly behind modern
box fascia, fixed to C19 original, the shop front to the right
(No.46) appears totally C20 reconstruction. Projecting 2
storey outshoot at left of rear, whitewashed brick ground
floor, pebbledashed, with hipped old tiled roof.
