Pedestrian suspension bridge. Dated 1888. Designed by John) Webster. Iron. Bow string lattice
girder bridge of 100ft span. Ironwork by E Page and Co of Bedford. Deck of concrete, laid on
Westwood and Bailey's corrugated iron plates. Masonry abutments. Two circular metal plates
on northern pillars of bridge. Eastern one reads: "OPENED BY THE MOST
HONOURABLE THE MARQUESS OF TAVISTOCK 11TH JULY 1888 JOSHUA
HAWKINS ESQ J P MAYOR". The western one reads: "ENGINEER JOHN J WEBSTER
M. INST. C.E. CONTRACTORS E. PAGE & CO. BEDFORD 1888".
