Both late C18. Dated 1778 on rainwater-head. Red brick. No 39 is a wide and
imposing town house, with centre door up double flight of steps with simple rails,
Ionic 3 quarter columns with decorated block frieze, modillion cornice and broken
raked pediment. 4 new sash windows on ground floor and 5 above, in 2 storeys,
with stone sills and flat brick arches. Top moulded cornice, with pediment in
centre containing a round-arched window. Segmental headed carriage entrance
to right, and doorway of No 41 with Tuscan 3 quarter columns and simple cornice
up steps, 2 sash windows on ground floor, 4 on each upper floor (3 storeys),
with flat brick arched lintels.
Nos 33 to 43 (odd) form a good group of mainly Georgian character with Nos 1 & 3
Princes Street.
