Probably a late C18 to early C19 garden building to Hales Place later adapted(C.1884) to become the Mortuary Chapel or the Jesuit College of St Mary.The college was formed by an order of French Jesuits which took over Hales Place.Roughly circular building,about 9 feet in diameter with a porch.Built of flint and red brick strips, bonded with courses of stone and blocks of animal knucklebones.The porch is pedimented and quoined and has a round-headed arch surmounted by a cross made of animal bones. Slate roof with lantern sur-mounted by cross.Internally the walls are covered with blue plaster having gold decoration.Marble alter dated 1875.Funeral brass to Sir Edward Hales,5th Baronet(d. 1802)depicted in Mediaeval costume.This brass was formerly in the chapel attached to Hales Place,now demolished.This building has curiosity value and also historical interest for its connection with the Hales family and the French Jesuits.
