At back a C15 hall house. In front and at right angles a C16 house adjoining.
These parts of 2 storeys with irregular windows. To left of the C16 house a
gabled section, probably early C17, of 2 storeys and attic, 2 windows; and a
modern extension. High pitched tiled roofs. Buildings tile hung above, brick
below. At back visible timber framing. External stack to rear part, facing
road, of C16 with Tudor bricks and stone quoins, rebuilt above. Inside restored
but with much good original timber and inglenooks. Narrow hall part opened
up, with visible crown posts. Said to have been the house of William Caxton,
the first English printer.
