SU 75 SE ODIHAM HILLSIDE ROAD

9/74 Hillside Farmhouse

GV II

Early C18. 2 storeys and attic. North front of 1.3.1 windows, with forward
extending wings of unequal size. Red tile roof with hips, moulded modillion
cornice (east wing has a lower eaves and mouldings above a plain soffit), 2
gabled dormers with old leaded easements and moulded eaves and verge. Red
brick walling in Flemish bond, with 1st floor band, on the ground floor
rubbed flat arches to the east wing and cambered openings elsewhere, plinth.
Sashes in exposed frames (inner folding shutters). Fine wood doorcase in a
full Doric order, open pediment, broken entablature above fluted pilasters,
round-headed fanlight with curved design, panelled reveals, 6-panelled door,
on 2 stone steps. The inner facing walls of the wings have painted windows
in recessed panels. The other elevations are less regular and partly altered,
with 2 good leaded mullion and transom windows on the 1st floor. The east
wing passes beyond the rear wall and appears to be earlier, having blue headers
in the red brickwork.
