Tombstone to Mr John Foot and Sons, St
Dunstan's Churchyard

GV II

Headstone to John Foot d.1729. Portland stone. The auricular scrolled top contains a relief of a winged hour-glass. The crisp lettering survives in good condition and records the death of John Foot (aet. 27) and his sons Thomas (d.1729) and John ('yeoman' d.1747). A good example of an early 18th century headstone, with a characteristically elegant relief expressive of the fleetingness of time.
