(South West, off) Gate Lodge and Gates to Winburn Lodge

Gate lodge and gates. 1912. Designed by Simpson and Ayrton of London. Coursed dressed stone with ashlar dressings, stone slate roofs and 2 rear wall stacks. Lodge has chamfered plinth. 2 storey. L-plan. North-west gable has large bowed 2 storey window topped with curved parapet. 6-light mullion window on ground floor with swagged frieze and moulded band, above 5-light mullion window with similar moulded band. Left return has corner porch with round headed arches supported on short Doric columns and high bases. Arches are rusticated with moulded band topped with ramped parapet above . North-east gable has single ashlar cross casement windows with moulded pediments. Gates have curved low entrance walls and two tall square piers with moulded bases. Each face has a narrow pilaster which rises through pulvinated frieze and moulded cap. Bell canted caps topped with openwork ashlar finials topped with small balls.
