Wall, balustrade, steps, gate and railings. c.1905. By Sir Reginald Blomfield for Lord Brassey. Coursed rubblestone, ashlar and iron. A coursed rubblestone retaining wall stands near the south east corner of Apethorpe Palace (qv). This is surmounted by a stone coping with ball finials and then becomes a piece of balustrade with double-ended balusters and piers and adjoins a short set of steps with, at the top, iron railings with short intermediates with spear-heads, openwork piers and central gate. The northern end adjoins the south east corner of the house. Forms a significant group with the house and the other items surrounding it.
The gardens at Apethorpe are included in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens at Grade II.
