II

Gatepiers and walls. c.1785. By James Wyatt for Sir Charles Kent. Stucco and ashlar gatepiers with gault brick, red brick and flint walls. A pair of large plain stuccoed piers have moulded cornices and impost blocks upon which on one side a cast-iron lamp standard with globe (the other side at present ivy covered). From one pier extend high walls between the stable court and the gardens of the Agent's and Head Gardener's Houses (q.v.). From the other pier a high wall in gault brick and then flint and red brick extends towards and becomes the truncated rear red brick wall of the former Fornham House (demd. c.1951) and then a further gault brick wall links to the former Laundry (q.v.)
Part of a significant group at Fornham Park.
