Includes: No.6 CASTLE GROVE.
Pair of houses, now 3 houses, and attached area railings.
1856. By TC Hine of Nottingham. Altered late C19. Red brick
with stucco dressings and slate roof with 4 coped ridge
stacks. Rendered basement, moulded eaves cornice with tile
frieze. Windows are mainly original plain and margin light
sashes with moulded surrounds. 2 storeys plus basement and
attics; 4 window range. Recessed centre fronted by area
railing and flanked by gabled wings. In the centre, 2 sashes,
flanked to left by a renewed 6-panel door and cornice. Above,
2 sashes, and above again, 2 hipped through-eaves dormers with
round-arched sashes. Outside, spearhead area railing. On each
side, square basement projections carrying canted bay windows,
3 sashes, with hipped roofs. Above, single sashes, and above
again, single round-arched sashes in gables. Basements have
3-light mullioned windows.
Right return has a gabled glazed enclosure to an external
stair, with a half-glazed door and patterned glazing bars.
