House, converted to residential home mid C20. Original house
of early C19 built for Sir Shafto Adair of Flixton Hall,
rebuilt late C19, mid C20 alterations. Red brick with hipped
roofs of machine tiles with offset ridge stack. U-shaped plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Recessed central block with 3-light
casements to first floor. Gabled roof with central gablet, and
higher gablet behind, the latter with a statue. Ground floor
has a projecting 1-storey entrance hall extending flush with
side wings where there is a 4-centred doorway beneath a gable.
Roof of hall glazed. South block of 2 storeys with gable end
to road, lit through a single-light first-floor casement.
Internal gable end stack east and west. 2-light casements to
north return under hoodmoulds with label stops. North wing
with two 2-light casements to each floor, all under hoodmoulds
with label stops, those to ground floor with transoms.
INTERIOR: large-framed panelling to entrance hall leading back
to Tudor-style staircase with twisted balusters.
