Farmhouse. Early C17 with C18 additions. C17 timber-framed
range running north-south, with brick facade added early C18
and later C18 additions. South front of red brick laid in
English and Flemish bond. Pantiled roofs throughout.
EXTERIOR: one storey and dormer attic. Central 6-panelled door
within timber doorcase of fluted pilasters, plain frieze and
hood. One C19 3-light casement right and left, and evidence of
blocked C18 windows. Gabled roof with 2 gabled dormers fitted
with 2-light fixed windows. Large central ridge stack adapted
from early C17 gable-end stack of rear wing: rectangular
plinth carrying triple octagonal flues with star tops.
Tumbling in east gable head; west gable head rebuilt c1830,
both gable-ends with C19 casements.
Early C17 rear wing running north-south has on the east side
an outshut under catslide roof, and a 2-storey gabled C18
extension to left. West side of 2 storeys and dormer attic:
plastered and colourwashed, with 2 C20 casements each floor,
gabled roof with one flat-topped dormer fitted with 2-light
early C18 leaded casement. Mid C18 brick 2-storey extension of
one window bay to north, under hipped roof. North gable of
flint and re-used ashlar, bearing dates: 1623 and 1632.
Internal gable-end stack.
INTERIOR: C17 range with exposed timber studs of medium
scantling. Chamfered bridging beam with tongue stops to ground
floor. Boxed bridging beam in east extension with wave and
reeded mouldings. Front range has bridging beam with
sunk-quadrant mouldings and roll moulding on underside.
Stick-baluster staircase with ramped handrail. First floor of
rear wing with bolection-moulded early C18 chimneypiece. Roof
of rear wing of principals, 2 tiers of butt purlins and 2
early C17 upper crucks with spurs to wall plates.
