Pair of houses. Early C19. Painted stucco, continuous
double-pitched slate roof with eaves cornice, rendered stacks
to gable ends and a brick stack to the centre ridge.
Double-depth plans with rear additions.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; each house is 2-window range. 1st-floor
windows are at eaves level. 6/6-pane sashes to the right over
6-panel doors, No.17 to the left has fluted pilasters
supporting an entablature; the doorcase to No.18, probably
later C19, has reeded half columns and consoles to a cornice,
the door is glazed to the top with an overlight. To the left
of each house is a full-height shallow curved bay with curved
frames to 8/8-pane sash windows.
INTERIOR: No.16 has a panelled soffit and reeded pilasters to
a semi-elliptical arch leading to an open string dogleg
staircase with stick balusters, painted swan's neck handrail
and turned newel.
