II
House, now offices. C17, with C18 frontage block, altered C19
and C20. Colourwashed brick, stucco over timber framing, brown
stock brick, Welsh slated roof above eaves with paired
brackets to front; old tiled roofs at rear. Red and brown
brick chimneystacks.
EXTERIOR: front has 5 tall 12 pane recessed sash windows with
concealed sash boxes, below rubbed flat arches with scalloped
soffit. Stucco sills, with panelled aprons below all except
the central window. 5 similar windows on ground floor,
right-hand window now infilled. Plat band at first-floor
level. Irregular fenestration on north side elevation.
Entrance in tile roofed outshut, with large triple sash window
on first floor above doorway with panelled door. Doorcase has
panelled Doric pilasters and flat projecting hood with fascia
frieze and moulded cornice, supported on slender cast-iron
colonnettes replacing columns. To right of entrance is lower
C17 timber-framed and plastered block, much altered, with
projecting C19 west wing, with higher roof line. C17 wing has
plastered gable and 3 narrow sash windows on first floor and
large projecting brick canted bay window on ground floor.
INTERIOR: much altered with some C18 cornices in ground floor
room, C19 fireplaces, early C19 open string stair with
bracketed treads, moulded hardwood handrail with wreath, and
stick balusters. Roof over long C17 outshoot has pegged halved
rafters with collars, and butt purlins.
