TL 51 NW HATFIELD BROAD OAK COLLINS COPPICE

A warrener's cottage. Mid C18, modified in later C19. Red brick in Flemish bond but external chimneystack in English bond. Tiled roof with one large external brick chimneystack to left and later C19 end corbelled brick stack to right. A 3 bay end chimneystack house with projecting central stair turret to the rear, now flanked by later C19 outshuts. Two storeys; 3 windows. Windows are now C 19 horizontally sliding sashes with shutters in original openings which are cambered to ground floor. Brick plinth. Central doorcase has semi-circular fanlight and C20 plank door. External chimneystack is in English bond brickwork with diaper patterns of black brick. Gabled staircase turret to rear. An C18 example of an unusual building type.
