Oak Cottages

Semi-detached pair. Circa 1895. Commissioned by Mary Watts for managers at her local pottery. Reputedly designed by the architect Clough Williams Ellis. Vernacular Revival style. Brick ground floor and roughcast above with close-studding to centre. Tiled roof with clustered brick chimneystacks. Two storeys and attics; 5 windows. Projecting gables to front and one to rear.
Attic has small casements with leaded windows. First floor has centre and end 3-light leaded light casements and penultimate two 2-light casements. Interior of no 6 retains original fixtures including staircase, panelling, fireplaces and floor tiles. Groups with nos 1-4 Oak Cottages probably designed by Sir Ernest George for the workers at Mary Watts pottery.
