Home.

GV II

House, now nursing home. Initialled and dated "NDW 1912 EMW" Hammer-
dressed stone, dressed quoins, stone slate roof. Vernacular Revival
style. 2 storeys and attic. North entrance-front has U-shaped plan
with projecting gabled wings and porch. All are mullioned-and-
transomed windows with continuous string course stepped over windows to
each floor. Coped gables with kneelers and finials and 3-light
stepped windows. Porch, attached to right wing has Tudor-arched
doorway with carved spandrels and heraldic shield over; cross-window
to 1st floor; coped gable with kneelers; inner doorway has dated
lintel. 4 stacks, one to right gable the others set back from the ridge.
Hipped roof to left with 5 stacks set back from ridge. Rear has 2
gabled wings each with canted 2-storey bay with 3-light windows with
transoms to each-floor, and 3-light window to apex of coped gable with
finials. Set between wings is full-height 4-light window with 3
transoms which has chamfered mullions with an inner ovolo mould.

Interior : Oak-panelled entrance hall with open-well dog-leg staircase
with finely turned balusters. Principal sitting room has oak linen-
fold panelling. Simple plaster mouldings decorated with oak-leaves
and acorns.
