Coach House at the Nook

Coach house. Early Cl9. Brown brick with slate roof. Two storey, three bay gabled
range on east side of forecourt to The Nook (q.v.) with a small, single storey
cross range projecting at the right hand end with a central ridge stack.
Front of coach house has a carriage doorway with segmental brick arch in
left hand bay. Stone hinge blocks set in the jambs; double, vertical board
doors with strap hinges. Two casements with glazing bars in bays to right
on ground floor and two similar casements in bays to left on first floor.
Gable end wall to left has a ground floor casement and a bull's eye window
with bars in a stone frame in the gable above. External entrance doorway
to first floor in right hand gable wall behind cross-wing approached by a
flight of stone steps, vertical board door, casement with bars to left.
Cross-range probably built as the wash-house. A small top hung casement
with segmental arched head in end gable wall. Coach-house and wing listed
only for group value with The Nook, Stage Lane (qv).
