Bank premises on corner site. c.1860. Painted brick with stucco
dressings, slate roof. Still in a late neo-classical idiom with a few more
Italianate details. 3 storeys and basement. 7 windows wide curving
segmentally round corner. Central entrance to corner of stucco ground
floor in semicircular keystoned arched opening with panelled door and
fanlight; ground floor plate glass windows in semicircular arched openings
with keys; all framed by Tuscan pilasters carrying entablature with dentil
cornice. Upper floors, with stucco rusticated block dressings, have
recessed sashes, no glazing bars, in stucco architraves with
console-bracketed dentil cornices on 1st floor. Console-bracketed
cornice with crowning balustrade. Wrought iron railings enclose ground
floor in front of basement lights.
