Late C18 or early C19 warehouse used as infantry barracks in 1803. Converted into
maltings in 1849. Now used as warehouse with offices. A long brick (partly rendered)
river front range of 4 storeys, 3 storeys are in a mansard roof which is tiled and
with some pantiles. Series of flat-roof dormers in mansard. Segmental-headed 1st
floor windows. The centre, slightly advanced has pedimented gable, originally flanked
by tall narrow chimneys and with doorway at centre on each floor. The west end
appears to be C19. Mid C19 maltings kiln on east end, brick, with steep hipped
roof surmounted by a later lantern, modern casements and large dormer. Interior:
floors supported on timber posts, the later west end has iron piers.
