forecourt walls and
entrance gateway

House. Tudor origin, rebuilt 1810. Partly rendered brick with gault brick
dressings and slate roof. Jacobean style. Facade to east. 2 storeys.
Composition of 5 gables, north and south gables taller, each with one 5-light
transomed mullioned casement to each floor. Square porch off-set to left
standing on square brick piers. Mullioned window above with quatrefoil
parapet. Each gable roofed back to main gabled range. 3 tall double flued
chimneys on ridge. To north gabled 1½ storey mid C19 extension. Brick with
slate roof. Glazed conservatory obscures ground floor. Above are 2 gabled
through-eaves gabled dormers with 3-light casements. Internal north gable
stack. Forecourt wall extends west to road, returning to south. Raised wall
plastered and rusticated contains pedimented porch carried on Tuscan columns
and pilasters. This connected to house by covered passage.
