Late C18. Symmetrical block. 3 storeys stone faced (possibly Chilmark).
Rusticated ground floor on projecting plinth. lst floor string course.
Flanking pilasters to upper floors. Moulded modillion cornice and blocking
course. 3 bay central projection with pediment, the cornice carried across
and over pediment. Slate roof. 7 windows to upper floors, the left hand
and centre ones false, recessed, sash, some glazing bars intact. Ground
floor: formerly 4, now 2 tripartite sash windows in segmental arched recesses.
2 recessed doors (originally 4), 1 in centre 6 panels, semi- circular fanlights
with wreathed and radiating glazing bars. Flanking stone strips, originally
intended to be completed as arched surround, No 3 has projecting keystone.
Entirely modern shop front takes up ground floor of Nos 4, 4A. The block
is in a prominent position as seen across Devizes Green and approached from
Southbroom Road and in effect forms part of the group of houses listed on
Southbroom Road qv.

Nos 1 to l6 (consec) form a group.
