GV II

House, formerly 2 houses. Late C16, extended and re-faced late C19. Timber
framed, clad with red brick; thatched, with black-glazed pantiles to rear
outshut. 2 storeys in 3-window range. Brick plinth course. Brick skin laid
in Flemish bond with burnt headers. South front with brick corner pilasters
and third pilaster to centre. Late C19 half-glazed door to west end under
cambered skewback arch with blocked window immediately right. Second late
C19 half-glazed door to right of elevation flanked by one 3-light C20 metal
casement to left and similar 2-light casement to right, both under soldier
arches. One 2-fight and 2 3-light C20 metal casements to first floor.
Gabled roof with ridge stack left of centre. West gable-end lit through
one 3-light C20 metal casement to each floor. Full-length single-storey
rear outshut lit through 5 2- and 3-light C20 metal casements and entered
through C20 half-glazed door to right. 2 C19 stacks.
INTERIOR. Timber frame of heavy scantling, to east end with arched
braces rising from middle rail and wall plate to principal studs. Chamfered
bridging beams and joists. One cambered tie beam remains with pair of
truncated queen posts of rectangular section. Remainder of roof replaced
C19. C20 staircase inserted in front of right-hand facade doorway. Wide
fireplace openings to east and west of stack on ground floor.
