Stable block. 1899. Designed by P. Dollar for John Gretton. Baroque Revival style. Coursed ironstone rubble with ashlar dressings. Gabled and hipped Collyweston slate roofs. Chamfered plinth, moulded string courses and eaves, square domed lead roof ventilators. 4 external side wall and single ridge coped stone stacks. Single and 2 storeys, 10 bays wide by 6 bays deep. 3 ranges in quadrangular plan around yard, the south side closed by a coped wall and a pair of rusticated gatepiers. Windows are glazing bar sashes, some with projecting architraves. Courtyard west side has to left, one and a half storey pavilion with shaped shouldered gable. To its right, single storey range with 12 sashes and 4 doors. North side has projecting 2 storey, 3 bay centre with rusticated ground floor. Central door with brackets to broken segmental pediment flanked by single sashes. Above, 3 tall sashes and 4 swagged Ionic pilasters. Above again, segmental pediment with circular window. Above again, domed octagonal cupola with clock. To left, one and a half storey range with central door flanked by 3 sashes. Above, 3 cross eaves dormers with segmental pediments. To right, 2 storey range with off-centre door and 3 sashes. Above, 2 projecting stacks and 4 sashes with segmental pediments. East side has to left, 2 storey range with rusticated ground floor and 6 pairs of carriage doors. Above, 4 irregularly coupled windows with gable and segmental pediments. To right, single storey range with 2 doors and 5 sashes. Exterior has irregular fenestration with casements. North side has to south, Venetian window and above, pair of loading doors. Above again, curved stone brackets carrying pulley and hood.
