Cottage. Circa 1600 with later alterations. Timber framed and rough rendered.
Red plain tiled roof. End chimney stacks. One storey and attics. 3 gabled
dormers. 2 ground floor, 3 light small paned casements. Central 4 panel 2
light door, moulded surround, pentice board. Central wing at rear. The cottage
appears to have an intact frame with centre passage, stop chamfered bridging
joists, heavy ceiling beams and large end chimney stacks now infilled. Halved
and bladed top plate scarf. Of special interest are the 5 in-situ moulded and
nailed doors with original hinges, those to cupboards at side of first floor
chimney stack with cocks head hinges, there are also 2 similar doors no longer
in-situ, one with large cocks head hinges. The staircase at rear of centre
passage appears to be inserted. The rear wing has a chamfered bridging joist
and square section ceiling beams, they may be inserted.
