Lock pound at SJ 9049 6607

Canal lock. c1831. William Crosley engineer. Rusticated gritstone to lock, ashlar to spillway. Semi
circular upper end to lock basin, 2 tier quadrant platform west of tail gates to lock; flight of stone
steps to east. Cambered footbridge of cast iron across lock tail (entrance) with later plain tubular steel
rail. Head and tail gates with steel balance beams, the former with ground mounted paddle gearing)
the latter with gate mounted gearing - both with rack and pinion. Some concreting to platforms:
ladder inserted into lock chamber.
