Barn with cowhouse and loft extension. Circa C17 extended in
circa C18. Weatherboarded timberframe, partly refaced and
extended in limestone rubble. Plain tile roof with gabled ends.
PLAN: 3-bay barn with 2-bay cowhouse and loft extension.
EXTERIOR: SW front, stone rubble base and weatherboarded above.
External stone steps right of centre to high level doorway and
loading doors to left and right with plank doors. On left the
cowhouse extension has stone rubble to higher level with 3
doorways on ground floor and 2 small windows above. Loading door
in SE gable. Ground at rear NW is higher; NW elevation full-
height double doorway to left of centre, stone rubble on right
with weatherboarding below eaves.
INTERIOR: The 3 SE bays have 4 (one in SE Gable end) full cruck
trusses with halved collars and tenoned or trenched purlins
above; the trusses truncated above the purlins and augmented by
another later collar; the NW truss originally the end wall with
tie, post and rails. Timber-frame front and back walls with
large studs and tension braces. The circa C18 2 bays at NW end
has tie-beam and queen strut truss, first floor and with remains
of stalls and rear feeding passage on ground floor.
