GV II

House. 1896-1898 by Sir Edwin Lutyens. Snecked Bargate stone to left range and
to ground floor of right hand range, whitewashed roughcast above to right, plain
tiled roofs with end gablets and half-hipped with tile hung end to left. L-shaped
plan. One storey and attic under one hip-roofed leaded dormer to left and one
gabled dormer adjacent to re-entrant angle of the two ranges. Offset ridge stack
to left hand range and massive corbelled triple stack, centre shaft placed
diagonally, to rear of right hand wing. One five-light leaded window to first
floor end right and one flat roofed leaded square bay window to ground floor on
sandstone plinth. one four-light leaded window in re-entrant angle on left range.
One 4-light leaded window under cambered head to left. First floor to right
jettied on brackets over tile-on-edge band. Half-glazed door to right wing in
angle under tile-on-edge lintel. Lower hip roofed wing at right angles to rear
of left range connecting to sandstone block rubble garden wall with tile-on-edge
top and D section coping, approximately 7 feet high, and returning to street.
Curved end walls to gate. Pentice extension to rear of right hand wing.
