Nevison House
II
House. C18 in appearance with mid-late Cl9 datestone of 1666. Dark red-brown brick
with stone dressings. Swept pantile roof with ashlar coping and shaped kneelers. End
stacks. Two storeys, now 3 first floor windows, the right half of the house rebuilt.
Plinth. Chamfered quoins. Central C19 shouldered door surround of alternating block
jambs with datestone and the horseshoe of Upsall Castle Estate. C19 sashes with
glazing bars set in projecting stone architraves. First floor band. Reputedly the
home of William Nevison, hanged in 1685 (VCH). Disused at time of resurvey.
