Clapper bridge about 20 metres north of Dartmeet Bridge (formerly listed as remains of Clapper Bridge)

Clapper bridge crossing East Dart river. C17 or earlier.
Granite. A bridge of five spans with abutments and piers made up of large, natural
boulders piled up unmortared, one on top of the other. Two of the spans are each
crossed by a single broad lintel or clapper-stone, about 1 metre wide, but the other
three spans now have no lintels at all. These were washed away in the great flood of 4
August 1826 (Exeter Flying Post, 10.8.1826).
The bridge makes an excellent group with Dartmeet bridge (q.v., 20 metres to the
south).
The asset was previously listed twice also at List entry 1170696.
