INGESTRE,
CHURCH OF ST MARY

15-JAN-68

I

Rebuilt in 1676 probably by Wren and certainly worthy of him. It fared well on the whole at the hands of the Victorians and the fittings are largely original. The exterior is all ashlar faced. The nave is aisled and the arcades have Doric columns on tall square bases. Handsome screen and richly carved pulpit with tester. Some good late C17 and C19 mural tablets. Marble font of pedestal type with contemporary cover.
