Pair of houses. Dated 1775 on rear hopper. Flemish bond brick,
stone dressings, party wall stacks and tiled valley roof, that
of No.5 at right angles and No.6 parallel to the street. Mid
STYLE: Georgian.
PLAN: double-depth.
EXTERIOR: each of 3 storeys; 3-window range. A matched pair
with a thin brick cornice and parapet, good paired timber
doorcase with pilasters to an open pediment, round-arched
doorway with panelled reveals, fanlight and door with 6 raised
panels. Rubbed brick flat arches to 6/6-pane sashes in flush
frames, 3/3-pane second-floor sashes; first-floor windows to
No.5 lengthened to mid C20 French windows with steel basket
balconies. A lead hopper to the rear of No.5 inscribed
R/E/E/1775. Rear parapet, No.5 has a mid C20 extension.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
One build with No.7 (qv) to the left. The staggered initials
on the hopper normally suggest the date of a marriage.
