House. Dated 1708 by owner, partly rebuilt mid-late C19.
Painted stucco with a brick lateral stack behind the ridge and
tiled roof.
PLAN: double-depth.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic; 2-window range. A right-hand
round-arched doorway to a through passage has a boarded door,
with half a blind window above; to the left is the entrance
with thin surround and cornice to a door with 6 raised panels,
and a left-hand mid C19 canted bay, plate-glass sashes, and a
small flat-headed casement dormer. Eaves cornice.
INTERIOR: panelled ground floor, central fireplace, and winder
stair to the rear with curtail, turned balusters and uncut
string. Bay window seat.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached iron railings flank archway.
HISTORY: the central archway and blind upper window look like
the centre of a 5-bay house cut in half. Prospect Row was
built between 1705 and 1756. Part of a good mixed terrace of
early-mid Georgian houses.
