House. 1910, to the designs of Arnold Mitchell. Red brick with bright orange brick to giant pilaster strips. Two-span hipped tile roof with swept eaves and boarded soffits. Two storeys. Bilaterally symmetrical about recessed entrance set in long return, to path linking Meadway Close with Constable Close. The pilasters divided this elevation into five bays, the centre narrowest and those at the ends broadest. Leaded casement lights of an original design of several widths. First-floor sill band is brick header course, recessed behind pilasters, a feature which, taken with the broad eaves, enhances the spreading quality of the design. Polygonal bays to outer ranges. Two dormers with metal roofs flank the entrance axis to front roof. Pilasters continue along right return; rectangular bay to rear corner. Left return with four pilasters defining narrow end bays. Pair of dormers to rear garden and single-storey hipped extension. Most unusual roof treatment with stack, that to left in valley of roof, with dormer abutting and filling valley near centre range. Long axial stack to right between fourth- and fifth-window range. The design is notable not just for the use of pilasters but for the way in which the first-floor windows span virtually the entire gap between each pair of pilasters.
