Descriptive notes to be amended to read:
Late mediaeval, rebuilt in C16, and added to in C17 and C18. Timber-framed, the
rebuilding in stone. Pitched stone slate roof. Mostly two storeys. Mullioned
and transomed windows. Rear has one C16 window with round-arched lights, and
others of the simplified later type of mullioned windows.
House body open to rafters. Two posts visible, tenoned for arch braces, and
braced to the wall plate. King post trusses, braced to the ridge, with studs
parallel to the rafters.
Three gabled wings and an extension to rear. The west wing may be contemporary with
the house body, as it also has arch-braced trusses, braced to aisle plate, and studs
parallel to the rafters.
The house body continues east beyond the east wing, which may be next in the
chronology. Immediately west of this is another wing built in the re-entrant angle
with the house-body: arch-braced king post trusses, braced to the ridge.
Interior. Timber studded partition between screens passage and west wing. C19
staircase and gallery in hall.
